Confessions of a shopaholic…Newmarket, England

Time is ticking away and it’s all becoming quite real! I’ve got 2 weeks left at work and around 6 weeks before I leave for my travels! (Eeek!)

I’m one of those people who likes to plan my purchases so ever since I started to think about travelling I’ve been pinning endless South East Asia packing lists on Pinterest. All of the lists are slightly different but the one thing they agree on is that less is more … which is unfortunate as my packing style is definitely “more”!

There are so many fabulous gadgets that seem very sensible, such as a bag that doubles as a washing machine, that I knew the packing process was going to be a challenge. Also being past the age of 20 I actually want to look vaguely stylish during my trip so of course I need to do some strategic clothes shopping too!

After much saving of wish lists and abandoned online baskets I jumped headfirst into my most important purchase this weekend and bought my backpack. I tried on lots of different versions but finally settled on an Osprey Aura 65l in green which was by far the most comfortable. It was really weird thinking that this bag is going to be joining me on planes and trains and in hostels, hotels and homes all over the world in the not too distant future. I love her already though and I feel like it’s more than a bag, more of a companion, so I’m going to call her Barbara!

Over the next few weeks I’m on a mission to get everything I might need to fill my beloved Barb. To ensure that I don’t get gifted anything twice or that I don’t want I’ve even created my own (non)wedding list! Lol! Here it is if you’re interested or want to buy anything for me!

Anyway I will try very hard to keep my shopaholic tendencies in check but I have a feeling there’s going to be a future post about my nightmare packing experience!
